Dulles South Chantilly Automotive offers complete tire repair service.
Your car’s tires are integral parts of many systems. They connect to the suspension system, the steering system and the braking systems and impact your overall miles per gallon.
We Fix Tire Problems
There is no way to tell exactly how long a tire will last. There are so many variables, climate, road conditions, driving habits and the amount of care that’s put into your tires.
A faulty suspension system can cause cupping of your tires. This creates a wear pattern that is not as noticeable as a car out of alignment, but that can be heard loud and clear as your driving down the road.
Tires that are not properly inflated can cause drag making your engine work harder and ultimately costing you more at the pump.
Checking Your Tires
At Dulles South Chantilly Automotive we check your tire condition. We rotate them as part of your oil change service. Visually inspecting your tires can help determine if it’s getting time to invest in new ones.
You can check your tires too. A safe tire must have a minimum of 1/16 of an inch tread. Do the penny test: insert a penny upside down and if you can see Abe’s head it is time for new tires. Most tires now have wear bars between the treads, if you are down to the bar, its time!
Also look for cracks or bubbles in the side wall. Tires will breakdown over time. If you notice lots of cracks you could have some dry rot issues. Bubbles can indicate a breakdown in the structure of the tire that could cause a blowout.
